The UTSA College of Business hosted 13 representatives from EY and 50 Lanier High School students as part of the EY College MAP (Mentoring for Access and Persistence) program.

The event provided students with an opportunity to learn about the programs and services offered at UTSA. The event was organized by the college’s Office of Undergraduate Studies and the Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD).

“This mentoring event is a great example of how a variety of organizations within the community can collaborate to inspire students who will be the first in their families to attend college,” said Rosa Garza-Girdy, assistant dean of undergraduate studies.

Juniors and seniors from Lanier High School met with mentors from EY and UTSA to discuss the college application process, how to prepare for a college career and the opportunities available to them as college students. Their visit included a presentation by Erica Clark, assistant director of internships, a campus tour and two UTSA business student panels focused on the college experience and the tools needed to succeed as a college freshman.

“We hope to continue our partnership with UTSA going forward, and hope to be back again soon,” said Allison McKee, technology risk staff at EY and program coordinator.

The CSPD is designed to advance business students’ professionalism, knowledge and leadership. The center equips students with the skills necessary to thrive in obtaining internships and securing professional employment.
