Daniel Reyna,’18 earned his first bachelor’s degree in environmental science almost 10 years ago. But the COVID-19 pandemic prompted him to return to UTSA to follow his passion for biological advances and statistical data. Reyna, a native of El Paso, will graduate next week with a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Data Science with a concentration in Biology from the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at UTSA.

Katie Celaya, ’21 has always had a special place in her heart for San Antonio. Frequenting the 210 for family vacations, Celaya knew that someday she would attend UTSA and live here. When the Midland native first arrived in San Antonio for her undergraduate degree, she knew no one. But when Celaya crosses the stage next week to receive her Master of Accountancy (MACY) degree she’ll have a community of friends and fellow Roadrunners cheering her on.

Riley Hamilton Earns Her B.B.A. at the Age of 19

The beginning of Riley Hamilton’s college experience was anything but normal. Not only did she kick off her freshman year at UTSA during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, but she did so at the age of 17. Next week, Hamilton will earn her B.B.A. in Management, with a concentration in Human Resources Management, at just 19 years old.

Fall 2022 Graduate Showcase: Farah Hamed

Alvarez College of Business
Born and raised in San Antonio, Carlos Alvarez College of Business student Farah Hamed will graduate this December with a double major in both finance and management. Though she spent most of her childhood traveling to and from the Middle East visiting family, Hamed’s passion for the 210 is eternal. With a high school class of only 70 students, she was eager to experience the beauty of a 30,000-plus community of Roadrunners and found herself immersed in the culture almost instantly. Now moving on to the next chapter of her life, Hamed will attend graduate school at UTSA to obtain her MBA while beginning her full-time job as a Financial Analyst for USAA.

Cyber Professor Awarded $1.5 Million in Grants

Continuing his work on Internet of Things (IoT) and critical infrastructure security, Elias Bou-Harb, associate professor of cyber security in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at UTSA, has been awarded $1.5 million from the National Science Foundation for two grants focused on related research, development, operations and training. These grants include collaborations with researchers at UTSA, Vanderbilt, San Diego State University and the University of the Incarnate Word—including two Ph.D. alumni from UTSA.
