Jonathon HalbeslebenJonathon Halbesleben is the seventh dean of the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at The University of Texas at San Antonio. He is also the Bodenstedt Chair for the Dean of Business and the Tom C. Frost Distinguished University Chair for Business Excellence.

Since joining UTSA in 2022, he has led the college in three priority areas: enhancing student success programs, increasing research productivity and building relationships with the business community.

Recent accomplishments include launching Career Compass, a new, required student professional development program; increasing faculty numbers by 20%; and building community partnerships through our Data Analytics Center and SURE entrepreneurship program.

In addition to his administrative duties at UTSA, Halbesleben serves as professor of management. He has written or edited 17 books and published over 95 peer-reviewed journal articles on topics such as employee well-being, work-family issues and relationships in and out of the workplace. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association and Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

Previously Halbesleben served as an administrator at the University of Alabama and held faculty positions at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the University of Missouri.

Halbesleben earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor’s degree from Winona State University.
