The UTSA College of Business earned reaccreditation in business and accounting from AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been earned by less than five percent of the world’s business schools. There are only 786 business schools in 53 countries and territories that have earned AACSB accreditation. And within those schools, 186 institutions hold additional specialized AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.
“During this peer-review process schools must demonstrate alignment with AACSB’s global accreditation standards, as well as how they encourage engagement, innovation, and impact across the communities they serve,” said Robert D. Reid , executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International.
“Our reaccreditation affirms that our curriculum, faculty and strategic planning is high quality, and that we are providing a top-tier education to our students,” said Wm. Gerard Sanders , dean and Bodenstedt Chair of the UTSA College of Business. “I commend our faculty and staff who worked tirelessly to secure this reaccreditation.”
Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal review, engagement with an AACSB-assigned mentor and peer review. During this multi-year continuous improvement review, schools are evaluated in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff participation; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.
During the review process, the UTSA College of Business was praised for its student engagement and professional development programs as well as innovations in academic programming including the new master’s degree programs in business and data analytics.
Accredited business schools are required to go through a rigorous internal review process every five years to maintain accreditation. The UTSA College of Business has been continuously accredited by AACSB since 1980. Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools.
