Meet Ernest Bromley, ’78, ’80. He’s 64 years old and plans to retire from Bromley, the advertising agency he founded, to pursue a Ph.D.—but not before he completes a 375-mile bicycle race around Puerto Rico. He’s also one of UTSA’s first students.

Marketing Researcher Studies Milestone Ages

According to a new study by UTSA marketing assistant professor Rajesh Bhargave, though, milestone ages aren’t just a time to look in the mirror and dread another wrinkle. Most people use them to take a long hard look at their health.

For the Spurs It's All About Human Resources

It’s hard to look at the Spurs’ locker room as any old office, but just as the team’s higher-ups rightly look at the franchise as a business, the players themselves follow the same general concepts of office living. Just in the past few weeks, Matt Bonner, Kawhi Leonard and (after much speculation) Manu Ginobili have signed with the Spurs for another season, and Trail Blazers’ star player LaMarcus Aldridge announced he’d be joining the team. UTSA Department of Management Professor Mark Lengnick-Hall says that how this shakes out next season is mostly a matter of human resources.

Meet Julian Acosta ‘12. He started out studying music in his hometown of Querétaro, Mexico, but transferred to UTSA in 2010 to study business. Since then, he’s founded Austin-based music label Capitol City Records, which was named a top-10 label at the SXSW Music Awards.

Management Researcher Finds Choice Motivates Employees

It seems to be the questions managers are often pondering: How do you keep employees motivated? How do you keep them happy? How do you get them to work harder? UTSA’s Matthew McCarter has arrived at some of that insight. He’s just released a co-authored study in the Human Resource Management Journal that suggests that choice in health plans plays a big role in employee motivation and happiness.
