UTSA Business Student Named Pearson National Fellow

Caleb Pendleton, a senior majoring in information systems at The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business, was one of 20 students nationwide awarded the Pearson Prize for Higher Education. This award, given by the Pearson Foundation, recognizes students who distinguish themselves through commitment to community service.

Dr. Hamid Beladi, the IBC Bank Senior Faculty Fellow in Economics, has been named associate dean of research at The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business. In this role he will oversee and promote research in the college.

Three New Faculty Join College of Business

The College of Business welcomed three new tenured-track faculty members this fall. Dr. Seok-Won Lee, assistant professor, is a member of the Department of Information Systems and Technology Management. His research interests include secure software engineering and information security assurance. Lee previously taught at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He holds a doctorate in information technology from George Mason University.

The Ernst & Young Foundation and E&Y UTSA alumni have raised more than $120,000 in support of the Ernst & Young Accounting Scholarship Program. The program provides scholarship support to accounting students pursuing the master of accountancy degree.

College Administrators Travel to Mexico on Trade Mission

Lisa Marie Gomez, director of international operations in the College of Business, and faculty member Daniel Tablada traveled to Mexico City last month on a trade mission with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to discuss educational partnership opportunities. UTSA was the only educational institution to participate in the visit.
