A sixth generation Texan, Deacon is a leader in the executive search and staffing industry. Following her entrepreneurial passions, she established Deacon Recruiting in 1994 and has grown the company into one of the largest executive search firms in Central Texas and one of only four accredited firms in the nation by the National Association of Personnel Services. In 2021 she founded Lux Concierge, the largest concierge firm in Austin, and has recently expanded to include the Denver market.

Deacon was inducted into the National Association of Personnel Services Hall of Fame for her contributions to the industry. She also received the prestigious Norbert I.B. Fried Ethics National Award for her efforts to upgrade the image of the staffing industry.

Active in the community, Deacon is the past chair and current member of the Alvarez Dean’s Advisory Council, and she serves on the University of Texas’ Chancellors Council Executive Committee.  She is the past chairman of the board for the National Association of Personnel Services and is active in community organizations such as the International Entrepreneurs Organization, the Battered Women’s Shelter of Bexar County, the Arthritis Foundation and the Junior League of San Antonio.

She received her bachelor’s in accounting at UTSA and began her career in public accounting.

The Frost Distinguished Lecture Series, which began in 1988, brings prominent business and community leaders to UTSA to share their knowledge and experiences with students and others in the university and business community.
