Expected Graduation: May 2024

Favorite class, professor, or topic you’ve learned about?

My favorite class is Contemporary Issues in Accounting with Stacy Conrad. She is very good at breaking down topics and making sure you understand why a specific thing is happening.

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of school?

I recently got back into reading, and I'm enjoying it immensely. I also love spending time with my friends, whether it's grabbing a meal together or simply sitting in a car and chatting.

What is the most memorable experience you’ve had throughout your college career so far?

I took Principles of Accounting 1 with Patrick Lee in fall of 2021. I came into college knowing that I wanted to be a business major but was not sure what my concentration would be. Taking my first class with him was so insightful and made me realize that I could possibly have a future in the accounting field.

What challenges have you faced in your academic journey, and how have you overcome them?

I’m a first-gen college student. My biggest challenge was learning how to balance school, work and family expectations. My parents gave me everything I could ever need, and I have always felt that being successful in college is my way to show them how grateful I am.

What organizations have you been involved with at UTSA Alvarez?

I am a member of the Business Student Council, Accounting Professionals of Tomorrow and The Investment Society. Within the Business Student Council, I've been an active member since 2022, holding the position of Chief Officer of Finance from fall 2022 to spring 2024. I've been a member of Accounting Professionals of Tomorrow since 2022, taking on the role of Director of Membership and Finance during spring 2023. Additionally, my involvement in The Investment Society began in 2023, where I've served as the Director of Finance during spring 2024.

Do you have any previous internships or upcoming job offers you are proud of?

I had the opportunity to work as a Healthcare Tax Intern at CliftonLarsonAllen in the summer of 2022, and I also served as a State and Local Tax Intern at KPMG in the summer of 2023. I am proud to say that I have been offered a summer position with KPMG in Houston as a State and Local Tax Associate!

What do you hope to achieve in your future career?

My short-term goal is to attain my CPA license and further my career in public accounting. Looking ahead, my long-term aspiration involves either establishing my own small firm or serving as a tax advisor for a Fortune 500 company.
