The UTSA College of Business has launched a new graduate certificate in Intelligence Studies. The certificate is part of the college’s new Critical Technology Studies Program , which was founded last year following a $2 million grant from the Defense Intelligence Agency.
The 12-hour certificate program is open to all UTSA graduate students and non-degree-seeking students. Participants will take four intelligence studies graduate courses that will provide a solid foundation for beginning a career in the national security field.
“There is a critical shortage of skilled analysts in the intelligence community,” said Max Kilger , director of the program. “Students will learn fundamental skills to tackle national security challenges head-on and excel in this rapidly-growing field.”
Coursework addresses analytical writing, critical thinking and analysis. Classes include The Role of U.S. Intelligence in National Security; Analytical Writing, Reporting and Briefing for the Intelligence Community; Intelligence Reasoning; and Analysis and Methods in Intelligence Collection.
“Leveraging relationships built through UTSA’s National Security Collaboration Center and San Antonio’s military community, our students will engage with partners in the intelligence community and with researchers embedded in our campus ecosystem,” said Kilger.
Certificate courses are offered every semester. Current graduate students can add the certificate program to their course of study.
