Recent cyber security graduate Charlotte Husoe ’15, MSIT ’17 traveled 4,800 miles across the Atlantic Ocean from Ålesund, Norway to pursue her studies at the UTSA College of Business.
Recruited to join the women’s soccer team, Husoe started for the Roadrunners as a defender from 2011-2014 before earning her bachelor’s degree in finance.
“It was an exciting time to be a part of UTSA athletics,” said Husoe. “I saw the creation of the Park West complex and competed in three different conferences.”
Wanting to continue her education, Husoe chose to follow her passion for technology and joined UTSA’s No. 1 ranked cyber security program. “I’m so happy that I made that choice. UTSA has the best program in the nation,” she said.
Two of her favorite classes were Security Risk Analysis with Robert Kaufman and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) with Glenn Dietrich. “The classes are the perfect mix between hands-on learning and academics,” she said. “At first it was overwhelming given my background, but I learned from my classmates and from my professors.”
Charlotte Husoe will return to Norway this summer to be closer to her family, and she has secured a job working in SCADA protecting the electric grid in Oslo.
“It has been a crazy six years,” she said. “I’ve made lifelong friends, and I’ve found my passion for cyber security. I look forward to returning to Norway. But, I’m glad I made the decision to come to UTSA.”
