Suman Basuroy , professor of marketing and chair of the Department of Marketing in the UTSA College of Business, has been named the Graham Weston Endowed Professor.“Dr. Basuroy is truly deserving of this honor,” said Wm. Gerard Sanders , dean and Bodenstedt Chair of the UTSA College of Business.“He is a prominent scholar in marketing, and he has been recognized internationally for his work.”
A member of the UTSA faculty since 2014, Basuroy’s key research interests include marketing of cultural products (motion pictures, video games and fashion) and retailing.
He has published numerous academic papers in prestigious national and international journals such as the Journal of Business/Chicago , Journal of Consumer Psychology , Journal of Marketing , Journal of Marketing Research , Journal of Retailing, Management Science and Quantitative Marketing and Economics .
“I am humbled, honored and at the same time excited to have been selected for the Graham Weston Professorship,” said Basuroy. “As the chairman and co-founder of Rackspace, Mr. Weston is a living embodiment of marketing and holding a professorship that bears his name is a true honor.”
Before joining UTSA, Basuroy was the Ruby K. Powell Professor of Marketing and Supply Chain at the Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma. He has also served on the faculty at Florida Atlantic University, the University of Buffalo and Rutgers University.
His research has been featured in Money magazine, Times of India and National Public Radio.
