The 17th UTSA Executive MBA class will graduate this weekend. The Executive MBA program began in 1997 and is a comprehensive 21-month lockstep MBA program designed for experienced managers, professionals and rising leaders.
The EMBA program provides a collaborative learning environment where students engage with accomplished faculty and a talented peer group who share relevant experiences and perspectives from a variety of industries.
“This program is one of the highlights of my life and career,” said Joe Bloom , EMBA ’15, director of government programs at M7 Aerospace. “I had advanced professionally beyond my business knowledge and was looking for a program to fill in those gaps. Technical business is very important, but I enjoyed the opportunity to learn the softer skills as well.”
The EMBA program provides students a foundation of business knowledge and skills from a leadership and management perspective. The curriculum consists of 43 credit hours of course work that is focused on current and relevant issues facing today’s business professionals. Classes typically meet on alternating weekends.
“As a member of Methodist Hospital’s executive team, having a better understanding of business vocabulary, mindsets and approaches is a great asset,” said Jane Appleby , EMBA ’15, chief medical officer at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children’s Hospital.
An important aspect of the program is the peer learning environment. Each class is comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences–creating a rich and dynamic learning environment.
“The quality of the people in my cohort was outstanding,” said Bloom. “We were exposed to various points of view, and it made me a better leader and manager.”
“The biggest highlight was learning from everyone in the class,” said Appleby. “There is tremendous value in the classroom interaction. Our professors were outstanding and demonstrated a nice combination of real world business experience and academic expertise.”
