Patrick Mulva
Patrick T. Mulva , MBA ’75, retired vice president and controller for Exxon Mobil Corporation, will present the keynote address at the upcoming Frost Distinguished Lecture Series, presented by The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business. The lecture will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22 in the Richard S. Liu Auditorium (2.01.02) of the Business Building on the UTSA Main Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Mulva will discuss “The Artistry of Leadership” and share personal experiences from his more than 38 years of service with Exxon Mobil. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of financial positions of increasing responsibility with the corporation both domestically and abroad.
Mulva began his career with Exxon Mobil in 1976 as a financial analyst at their Baton Rouge, La. refinery. In 1990, he was appointed assistant controller for Exxon Company, International. A year later, he was named finance director of the Exxon companies in Malaysia.
Mulva returned to the U.S. in 1993 as the upstream controller for Exxon Company, USA. In 1996, he was appointed controller of Imperial Oil Limited in 1996. Two years later, he was appointed the company’s senior vice president of finance and administration and director of Imperial Oil Limited. In 2002, he was appointed vice president of investor relations and secretary of Exxon Mobil. From 2004 to 2014, he served as vice president and controller of Exxon Mobil before retiring earlier this year.
Mulva is a member of the UTSA College of Business Advisory Council, chairman of the American Petroleum Institute’s Finance Committee, and a member of the Financial Executives International and its Committee on Corporate Reporting.
Born in Green Bay, Wis., Mulva holds a master’s of business administration from UTSA and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame.
The UTSA College of Business Frost Distinguished Lecture Series brings prominent business and community leaders to UTSA to share their knowledge and experiences with students and others in the university and business communities.
The lecture series, which began in 1988, encourages the development of a broader understanding of the business world and the individuals who lead it. Past speakers have included notable business leaders Charles Butt , Red McCombs , Henry Cisneros , Herbert Kelleher , Lanham Napier , David Robinson , Ed Whitacre and Nelson Wolff .
