This year’s keynote speakers are Pat Condon and Dirk Elmendorf, co-founders of Rackspace, the San Antonio-based IT hosting company that offers cloud computing infrastructure to hundreds of thousands of customers around the world. Started in 1998 with humble beginnings, today Rackspace has 4,800 employees worldwide and is a leader in the field in service and innovation. Condon and Elmendorf will share insights from their own journeys as entrepreneurs.
The boot camp will offer participants an intensive crash course on starting a business. Experts from companies such as YUMIX, Jackson Walker LLP, Prost Marketing and ITM Inc., as well as from the UTSA Libraries and the UTSA Small Business Development Center, will discuss fundamental entrepreneurship topics such as identifying an opportunity, prototypes and manufacturing a product, securing start-up funds, business planning, protecting your intellectual property and marketing your innovative idea.
Registration is free for UTSA students, faculty and staff, as well as students and faculty from other institutions of higher education. The cost for the general public is $95 and can be paid by cash or check starting at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event.
CITE is an interdisciplinary center of the UTSA College of Business and College of Engineering that fosters the growth of entrepreneurs and new technology-based ventures through education, experiences, resources and support.
