The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business received a $250,000 gift from Steven and Bruce Lee to establish the Quincy Lee Professorship in Real Estate Finance and Development. The professorship was established in memory of their father, Quincy Lee , a pioneer in the construction of quality, low-cost housing in San Antonio who later became a leader in commercial and industrial development.
“Quincy Lee loved San Antonio, the University of Texas and the real estate development business,” said his son Steven Lee. “He would be very excited about
UTSA’s contribution to professionalism in our industry and doubly proud to have his name associated with a UTSA professorship recognizing excellence in real estate.”
Dr. Thomas Thomson , professor of finance at UTSA, has been named the inaugural recipient of the Quincy Lee Professorship. Thomson, director of the College of Business Real Estate Finance and Development Program, has taught at UTSA since 1993. His research interests focus on real estate, mortgage default and foreclosures. He received his Ph.D. in finance from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
The college’s dynamic Real Estate Finance and Development program has grown to more than 150 students since it was established in 2008. The college offers a bachelor’s degree in real estate finance and development, a master’s degree with a real estate finance concentration and a master of science degree in construction science and management.
The program, which is comprehensive academically as well as professionally-integrated with the San Antonio real estate community, prepares students for careers managing businesses associated with real estate and the planning, financing, developing and construction of building projects.
