2026 Alvarez Fellows

The Carlos Alvarez College of Business at UT San Antonio has named nine faculty members as the recipients of the 2026 Alvarez Research Fellowship. The fellowship was created last year to support outstanding scholarly research and elevate the college's academic profile.  

“These faculty are conducting research at the highest level," said Juan Manuel Sanchez, senior associate dean for faculty success and research. "They are publishing in the top journals of the field and raising the college's academic reputation through their work."

2026 Alvarez Fellows

  • Katherine Adams, postdoctoral fellow in operations and analytics
  • Onur Bayar, professor of finance
  • Deepa Chandrasekaran, chair and professor of marketing
  • Yuxi (Lance) Cheng, assistant professor of management
  • Amir Karimi, assistant professor of operations and analytics
  • Larisa Kovalenko, assistant professor of marketing
  • Alexander Lewis, assistant professor of management
  • Abby Parker, assistant professor of accounting
  • Saidat Sanni, assistant professor of operations and analytics

Each faculty member will receive an annual research stipend and carry the title of Alvarez Research Fellow for a two-year term. The program aims to foster high-impact scholarship, encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and further the college’s mission of advancing innovative business research.  

This cohort of fellows join the five inaugural fellows who were named last year to this program.
