Published annually since 2005, rankings are determined based on academic research published in 24 prominent peer-reviewed journals across a variety of business disciplines. The rankings are based on a five-year window of time.

“Obtaining this ranking is a significant milestone for the college and speaks to the quality of research that our faculty are producing,” said Jonathon Halbesleben, dean of the Alvarez College of Business. “Our goal is to engage in research with a demonstrated impact that is meaningful both within academia, but also within the business community. This recognition continues the momentum we are building as a national research institution.”

For the 2020-2024 ranking cycle, the college had 42 articles published in 16 journals. Alvarez faculty published most frequently in MIS Quarterly, the Journal of Marketing Research and Production and Operations Management.

Faculty representing each of the college’s seven academic departments produced research on topics including CEO deception, online shopping and brand loyalty, cyber threat intelligence, disaster response and variable ticket pricing.

“Prominent faculty research not only elevates the reputation of the college, but also creates value beyond academia,” said Juan Manuel Sanchez, senior associate dean for faculty success and research. “Our faculty’s work informs policy decisions, shapes business practices and addresses complex societal challenges. These areas of distinction allow us to engage meaningfully with industry partners, attract high-caliber students and faculty and reinforce our role as a leader for innovation and impact.”
