Meet Lauren Valadez, an undergraduate accounting student at the Carlos Alvarez College of Business!

Lauren Valadez

Expected Graduation: 2024

Favorite class, professor or topic you’ve learned about this year?

My favorite class would be Intermediate Accounting I with Patrick Lee. This class is designed to help students develop their accounting and analytical skills and expand their knowledge. He makes learning accounting fun and bearable, which I am very grateful for.

What hobbies or interests do you have outside of school?

I enjoy going to the gym and staying active. I use the gym as an outlet for stress.

What is the most memorable experience you have had at UTSA?

My most memorable experience at UTSA would be witnessing not one, but TWO conference championships back-to-back! Going through those experiences with my best friends and family was so amazing. It made me even prouder to be a UTSA Roadrunner.

What challenges have you faced in your academic journey, and how did you overcome them?

I have had to balance being involved in three organizations, being a student full-time and working at H-E-B. Being so busy takes a lot out of me, but I know it will benefit me in the future. I don’t mind moving my schedule around to make it work. I adjust my work schedule so I can focus on school and organizations.

Do you have any previous/upcoming internships/job offers you are proud of?

I am very proud to announce that I have a tax internship with KPMG in the winter of 2024 and another tax internship with FORVIS in the summer of 2024. I am beyond grateful that I have these opportunities with two amazing firms.

What do you hope to achieve in your future career?

No matter what I do in the future, I just want to be the best at it. I want to be the co-worker people come to when they have a question because they know I am willing to help.
