Three College of Business staff members were recognized for their outstanding leadership and service at the College Awards Reception April 20.

Recipients of the Dean’s Excellence Award were Cheri McMaster , senior administrative associate in the Department of Accounting, and Kathy Pope , director of graduate student services.

Cheri personifies what UTSA is all about: education, service and continual improvement. She greets everyone with a smile and is extremely helpful in fielding questions from both faculty members and students. She is responsible for managing multiple tasks, and she handles those duties with grace and professionalism.

Throughout her 20 years of service at UTSA, Kathy has been a guiding force in the college’s graduate programs. In particular, this past year she was instrumental in assisting with admissions and recruitment for the college’s new MBA International program. She is a hard worker and is well respected by her colleagues.

Laura Gilliland , program coordinator for the Real Estate Finance and Development Program, was the recipient of the Dean’s Excellence Award for Community Service and Outreach.

Laura is active in the real estate community, participating in both community service activities as well as networking with professional real estate organizations. Working with the REFD students, she organizes and participates in community service events such as Habitat for Humanity, Graffiti Wipeout, Animal Defense League, Elf Louise, and City of San Antonio Parks tree planting. She also plays a significant role in coordinating and planning the annual REFD Expo, which brings more than 75 local professionals to campus each year to network with business students.
