Kari Weiland

Kari Weiland Scoring successes both in the classroom and on the field, Kari Weiland will achieve her “goals” as she crosses the stage to receive her master’s of accountancy degree from the College of Business.

A native of Flower Mound, Weiland was recruited as a member of the inaugural women’s soccer team in 2006. A member of the Honors College, her success on the field was equally matched with her performance in the classroom. Weiland will graduate with a 4.0 grade point average as part of her graduate coursework.

“I originally thought I wanted to major in finance, but I knew I’d found my calling in accounting following my first Principles of Accounting course,” said Weiland. “As a student athlete my schedule was hectic, but I made sure to keep academics my top priority.”

During her time at UTSA, Weiland participated in a study abroad immersion to Italy and interned with San Antonio accounting firms BKD and Ernst & Young. Upon completing her internship with Ernst & Young, Weiland walked away with a job offer in E&Y’s audit department.

“I’m extremely proud of all that I have accomplished, but I know that I could not have succeeded without the support of my family and experienced professors to guide the way,” said Weiland. “While this chapter of my life will soon be closed, I’m extremely excited for the future and eager to give back to the university that started it all.”
