Four information systems graduate students at The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business placed first in the nation in the annual Department of Defense Cyber Crime Center Digital Forensics Challenge. The graduate students were recognized at the 2011 Department of Defense Cyber Crime Conference in Atlanta this January.

Team members were Stephen Heist , Luis Reyes , Lawrence Suffern and Christopher Wilkins . The challenge consisted of 20-task-oriented digital forensics challenges. The team placed first in the SANS graduate student division.

“Participants were challenged with real-world analytical dilemmas facing today’s digital forensics practitioners,” said Nicole Beebe , assistant professor information systems and technology management at UTSA. “Their success is the direct result of their innovative thinking and advanced digital forensics knowledge and skill.”
