The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business is partnering with the UT School of Public Health to offer UTSA’s first dual degree program in graduate business administration and public health.
“The MBA/MPH program gives students the background they need to provide effective leadership in the management and administration of public health care organizations,” said Dana Forgione, the Janey S. Briscoe Endowed Chair in the Business of Health. “Business students get the public health content they need to understand the industry, and public health students get the financial and management content they need to run their organizations more effectively.”
The MBA/MPH program allows students to concurrently enroll in both degree programs to minimize course duplication. Coursework can be completed in three years.
MBA courses will be offered in business disciplines such as accounting, business law, economics, finance, management and marketing. The MPH degree requires that students attain skills and knowledge in core public health disciplines such as biostatistics, environmental health sciences, epidemiology, behavioral sciences and public health policy management.
In addition to the new dual degree program, the College of Business also offers an MBA concentration in the business of health that provides an applied financial and managerial perspective to the field of healthcare management.
