student investorsCombining academic knowledge with real-world experience, the Carlos Alvarez College of Business Department of Finance student-managed investment fund provides graduate and undergraduate finance students with applied, practical experience in managing an investment fund.

Student fund managers, in coordination with Alvarez faculty members, are responsible for overseeing a $2.5 million portfolio for the University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company (UTIMCO).

Participants will gain experience in

Admission is by instructor approval only for selected students. The class size is restricted to a total of 25 students in both sections combined.

Students are expected to attend all sessions and contribute to the classroom discussions.  Students will also write research reports and suggest buy lists for the portfolio.
