Compensation Package

Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA) and student grading positions for master's students are offered on a competitive basis. The typical compensation package for a GTA is below and the hourly rate for a student grader varies.

Master's Students
GTA Appointment (9 months)* $9,000/19-hour appointment
Student Grader (hourly) Up to 19 hours per week

*Must be enrolled for a minimum of six graduate-level credit hours during the fall and spring semesters and three graduate-level credit hours during the summer semester. Appointments are subject to satisfactory academic and work performance.

Eligibility

  1. Be admitted in academic good standing to a graduate program within the Alvarez College of Business, or already be enrolled in good academic standing in one of these graduate programs. Students with conditional or probationary status are ineligible.
  2. Make satisfactory progress toward a graduate degree and meet all milestones.
  3. Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0
  4. Minimum enrollment of six hours in a long semester (fall and spring) and three graduate-level credit hours in a summer semester to be appointed for up to 19 hours a week.
  5. Graduate students enrolled for less than six hours in the long semesters and less than one hour in the summer are ineligible for any graduate assistantship appointment.

Master's students must apply in Handshake. Incomplete applications are not considered. Please note that incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Additionally, there may be opportunities for Graduate Research Assistant positions based on departmental availability. For further details, please reach out directly to the respective department.

Please note that admission into the program is not a guarantee of financial support. Ph.D. students who are selected for funding typically receive the following yearly minimum financial package for a period of up to four years.

The Alvarez College of Business provides support for Ph.D. student academic travel and generous grants to support research. The student's department may offer additional fellowships/scholarships to top students on a competitive basis.
