Interim Department Chair of Operations and Analytics, Operations and Analytics
Associate Professor
Arka Roy currently serves as interim chair and associate professor in the Department of Operations and Analytics in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Previously, he was a faculty member in the Department of Applied Statistics and Operations Research at Bowling Green State University.
He earned his Ph.D. from the School of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University and conducted research as a visiting research fellow in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences at Northwestern University.
His research uses optimization under uncertainty and machine learning to improve decision-making in healthcare and infrastructure services. In healthcare, he collaborates with clinicians to develop models for radiotherapy, perioperative management, treatment evaluation, quality control and workforce scheduling. In infrastructure services, he develops analytics and optimization models to support sustainable, equitable and resilient service delivery. His research has been published in leading medical, sustainability and operations research journals.
Externally, he is an active member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS).
