Bio

Peter O. Amah is an associate professor of management at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Prior to joining the UTSA faculty in 2024, he lived and worked in Fargo and Seattle for approximately 12 years where he taught at The University of Washington, Seattle University, and the Valley City State University. His credentials include a PhD from Gonzaga University, a Technology MBA from the University of Washington, an MA from Fordham University, an M.Div. in Theology from the Catholic University of America and an undergraduate degree in Philosophy.

Dr. Amah has research and teaching interests in leadership, human resources, and business ethics. In his servant-leadership model study, Dr. Amah found that leaders and their employees who exemplify servant-leadership characteristics can change toxic organizational cultures, become more productive, and report higher satisfaction with their work. He is currently studying sustainable student engagement in the classroom and the workplace in the era of social media using extended reality. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals.

In addition to teaching and research, he served as an administrator in the missions and started a non-profit organization that built a 27-bed hospital for a rural community in Africa. He enjoys altruistic services to remote communities that are in need. He also served as a director of research at Madonna, a leadership consultant to organizations such as Bolton White Hotels, and a member of AOM, AFAM, and ILA.
