Two College of Business Students Receive Department of Defense Scholarship

College of Business undergraduates Elias Dearing and Micheal Reski were named recipients of the Department of Defense Information Assurance Scholarship Program (IASP). Over 300 students applied for the scholarship from more than 52 eligible institutions.

We are delighted that two of our infrastructure assurance students received these prestigious scholarships, said Glenn Dietrich, chair of the Department of Information Systems and Technology Management. Of the 22 scholarships awarded, UTSA College of Business received two of them.

Dearing, a graduate of Clark High School, runs his own information technology services company. He received his associates degree from Northwest Vista College and will complete his studies at UTSA next year.

Reski, who will graduate this spring, has over six years of experience working with computer systems and is interested in the field of computer security.

IASP scholars receive a scholarship covering full tuition, fees and books. They also participate in a paid internship with the Department of Defense, receive a stipend, and are awarded a full-time position with the Department of Defense upon graduation.

UTSA is one of 86 universities throughout the nation that have been designated a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance by the National Security Agency.
