Twelve New Faculty Join College
Twelve new tenured or tenure-track faculty members joined the College of Business this fall. New faculty members include a new chaired professor and a chair for the Department of Management.
Dana Forgione, professor of accounting, has been named the Janey S. Briscoe Chair in Business. In this role, he will lead the college’s initiatives in the area of the Business of Health.
Forgione previously served as director of the School of Accounting at Florida International University. He has over 90 publications, most of which are in the area of healthcare business. He is the founder and director of the International Society for Research in Healthcare Financial Management. He is a consultant to healthcare organizations and has analyzed the financial and operating performance of more than 5,500 hospitals throughout the U.S. He holds a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Robert Cardy joins the college as professor and chairman of the Department of Management. Previously he served as professor of management at Arizona State University. His research interests include human resource management, performance management, and personnel selection and training. He holds a doctorate from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
Three new faculty members joined the Department of Accounting. Sharad Asthana, associate professor, Emeka Nwaeze, associate professor, and Dennis Lopez, assistant professor. Asthana previously taught at Temple University and has a doctorate from UT-Austin. Nwaeze holds a doctorate from the University of Connecticut and previously taught at Rutgers University. Lopez received his doctorate from the University of Arkansas.
The Department of Management welcomes two new full professors Dianna Stone and Eugene Stone-Romero. Dianna received her doctorate from Purdue University. Eugene received his doctorate from the University of California, Irvine. They both previously taught at the University of Central Florida.
Ashok Lalwani and Hyejeung Cho join the Department of Marketing as assistant professors. Lalwani received his doctorate from the University of Illinois-Urbana. Cho received her doctorate from the University of Michigan.
John Wald, associate professor, joins the Department of Finance. He previously taught at Penn State and has a doctorate from the University of California-Berkeley. Victor De Oliveira, associate professor, joins the Department of Management Science and Statistics. He previously taught at the University of Arkansas and has a doctorate from the University of Maryland. In the Department of Economics, Melody Lo joins the faculty as an assistant professor after previously serving at the University of Southern Mississippi. She received her doctorate from Purdue University.
