Benefits of Global and Intercultural Fluency

One of the main benefits of this pillar is the potential benefits it can have on your future career and ability to be successful in the workplace.

In a Harvard Business Review article “3 Ways to Improve your Cultural Fluency,” they emphasize how cultural fluency is critical to building trust in the workplace, how it is directly linked to financial performance and how diversity leads to more creative and innovative teams.

By participating in activities in this pillar, you can build competencies in these areas:

  • Valuing, respecting and learning from diverse cultures, races, ages, genders, sexual orientations and religions.
  • Demonstrating openness, inclusiveness, sensitivity and the ability to interact respectfully with all people and appreciate individual differences.
  • Equipping yourself to contribute as a globally-engaged citizen on both a local and global scale.

  • Why not create an environment where everybody can thrive? Where faculty, staff and students all feel welcome? Where differences are celebrated so everyone can thrive, be successful and reach their potential?
