Five students majoring in information assurance were awarded $114,000 in scholarships from the Department of Defense (DOD) Information Assurance Scholarship Program.
The students are Anthony Ballard, doctoral student; Nathan Bain, master’s; Chelsea Hicks, master’s; Nathaniel Ng, master’s; and Dane Stuckey, senior.
The scholarship program is designed to assist in recruiting and retaining highly qualified information assurance personnel to meet the DOD’s information technology requirements for national defense and the security of its information infrastructure.
In exchange for scholarship funding, students must work at the DOD upon graduation. The obligation period is one year of service for each year the scholarship is received, in addition to internship opportunities.
Recipients of the scholarships must attend programs that are recognized as Centers of Academic Excellence by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
