In addition to technical knowledge, you will also develop the management skills to create, plan, organize, lead and control information technology in your organization.

Our program is best suited for students with a technical background and preferably with an undergraduate or graduate degree in information systems or computer science. The program allows students who work full time in the information industry to obtain further education and training that relates directly to their work. How to Apply

The online application form is available through UTSA’s Future Roadrunner website, and it may be saved and updated until you are ready to pay the application fee and submit.

In addition to the application requirements below, applicants must also meet university-wide graduate admission requirements.

Application Requirements

  • Completed application form: Includes loading all required documents, paying your application fee and clicking on the “Submit” button.
  • Current resume: Optional requirement, include employment or other related experience.
  • Letters of reference: Optional requirement. Students can submit a request for letters of recommendation through the online application. The application system will send their recommenders a rating form and a section for them to upload their letter.
  • Personal statement: Approximately 1-2 pages, there are no specific format requirements but your letter should identify why you are interested in the MSIT program at UTSA.
  • Requirement for standardized tests: GRE/GMAT are waived for Spring 2023 admission.
  • Transcripts: Unofficial transcripts must be submitted with application materials. If your application is successful, official transcripts are required from all colleges and universities attended by the end of your first semester. Transcripts must be received in a completely sealed envelope, or emailed directly from the issuing institution to be considered official.

    • Required foreign credential evaluation: All applicants including non-U.S. citizens (International), U.S. Citizens, and permanent residents who have earned university-level credit from foreign institutions are required to submit official transcripts along with a mandatory evaluation of the transcripts from Foreign Credentials Service of America. An approved evaluation requires a detailed course-by-course evaluation. Summaries will not be accepted.
  • International applicant TOEFL/IELTS test scores: Until further notice, any applicants with a TOEFL/IELTS score on hand should submit their result (regardless of date) as part of the application. Applicants without TOEFL/IELTS scores, will complete alternate evaluations to demonstrate English proficiency following admission.

VIP Admission Process

The VIP Graduate Admissions Program was established to retain talented University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) undergraduate students and alumni in pursuit of their graduate education. Both domestic and international students who have completed a minimum of 90 semester credit hours can qualify. As a benefit, selected VIP candidates are fast-tracked through the graduate admissions process to include an abbreviated application. All GMAT/GRE test scores and supplemental documentation for the graduate application are waived including statement of purpose, letters of recommendation and resume/CV.
