This 12-hour graduate certificate program will benefit individuals with 1-2 years of relevant experience in the commercial real estate scetor, or related fields, seeking formal education for career advancement in the commercial real estate sector.

real-estate-expo2Our Real Estate Finance and Development Certificate is designed for individuals interested in managing businesses associated with real estate and the planning, financing, developing and construction of building projects.

The real estate development, home building and construction industry employs more than 131,000 individuals in San Antonio. It has an economic impact of $19.4 billion each year, second only to the health care industry as an economic generator. Statewide, over 784,000 individuals are employed in the industry.

Certificates have a streamlined application process and courses may also be used to satisfy degree requirements.

Our graduate certificate is designed for individuals with 1-2 years of relevant experience in commercial real estate, or related fields, who are seeking formal education to advance their careers in real estate and development. It is also designed for those who hold a graduate degree but seek to obtain more education or specialization within this industry without committing to further graduate degrees. Our certificate allows you to take focused graduate courses with ppers from our MBA and M.S. Finance programs and is also available to UTSA graduate students in Urban Planning, Architecture, or Public Administration who wish to gain related knowledge in Real Estate Finance and Development.

How to Apply

Meet with Laura Gilliland (Laura.Gilliland@utsa.edu), assistant director of the Embrey Real Estate Finance and Development program prior to submitting an application to ensure that you meet the program’s minimum requirements.

The application process for the Real Estate Finance and Development Certificate is streamlined and does not require standardized test scores.

  1. Complete the online Graduate Application:
    • Select your application type (Domestic or International)
    • For classification, select “Master’s – Special Graduate”
    • For your program, select “Real Estate Finance and Development, Graduate Certificate”
    • Choose the term for which you would like to apply
    • Complete the rest of the online application form, pay your application fee and submit
  2. If admitted as a special graduate student, please contact the Certificate Program Advisor, Tammy McDaniel (tammy.mcdaniel@utsa.edu) to request information on registration.
