IS Faculty Receive Grant Funding from Federal Government

Faculty members in the Department of Information Systems and Technology Management have received numerous grants from the federal government this past year.

Two faculty members have received over $200,000 from the U.S. Air Force to conduct research. Dr. Glenn Dietrich, associate professor and chair of the department, received $146,000 for his project titled “Extending Data Mining Algorithms to Intrusion Detection Systems.” Dr. Mukul Gupta, assistant professor of information systems, received $66,000 for his project, “Intrusion Detection Using Evolutionary Learning with Multiple Agents.” Intrusion detection in information security is the act of detecting actions that attempt to compromise the confidentiality, integrity or availability of a resource.

In addition the department received over $200,000 from the National Security Agency for continued funding of student scholarships and for equipping state-of-the-art computer labs.
