Myron Anderson, Ph.D.

Myron Anderson is the founding Vice President for Inclusive Excellence at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) as of January 2019.
Anderson comes to UTSA from Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) where he served as the Associate to the President for Diversity and a tenured Professor in the School of Education. Using inclusive leadership as the framework paralleled with an active leadership strategy, listen, co-create, harvest and implement, Anderson was responsible for developing a University strategic vision to improve campus climate and advance Inclusive Excellence.
Anderson’s leadership led to MSU Denver being a three-time recipient of the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) “Diversity Champions” award. This national award recognizes the top 15 U.S. Colleges and Universities that exemplify an unyielding commitment to diversity and inclusion. Anderson has led the development and implementation of innovative recruitment and retention programs, i.e. the Stealth Recruitment Portal, the Tenure Track Mentorship Program, and the implementation of the University-wide Campus Climate Survey. These programs contributing to MSU Denver’s improving of their campus climate and a 35% increase in the retention of faculty of color.
Anderson has performed research in the areas of instructional technology, distance education, campus climate, inclusive leadership, diversity, and microaggressions in higher education. His research has led to the creation of a new term “hierarchal microaggressions” identifying new territory where these actions take place. He has published, designed and presented regional, national and international workshops, in the areas of student development, education technology, equity pedagogy, microaggressions, inclusive leadership, diversity and campus climate.
Anderson earned a Ph.D. in instructional technology, and a bachelor of arts in political science from Virginia Tech, and a master of science in curriculum and instruction from Radford University.
