College Administrators Travel to Mexico on Trade Mission

UTSA Mexico Trade tripLisa Marie Gomez, director of international operations in the College of Business, and faculty member Daniel Tablada traveled to Mexico City last month on a trade mission with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to discuss educational partnership opportunities. UTSA was the only educational institution to participate in the visit.

The College of Business met with representatives from University of the Americas, Tecnológico de Monterrey Santa Fe campus and Universidad Iberoamericana to discuss educational opportunities in San Antonio. Of particular interest was the college’s MBA International Program and the bilingual business certificate program.

The bilingual business certificate is designed to prepare business students with the language and cultural skills necessary for successful international business careers. The certificate requires 15 credit hours including three business subject courses taught in Spanish, one comparative international business course and a practical experience related to the target region (immersion study, study abroad, or internship).

The MBA International program is a full-time lockstep program that is completed in 12 months. In addition to a comprehensive array of coursework which focuses specifically on international business issues, students may also expand their horizons through participation in international seminar series, immersive study abroad programs and participation in the Global Business Club.

“As part of the trade mission we raised awareness about our programming in the College of Business and looked for creative ways to engage with Mexico in exchange programs,” said Gomez. “There is more to Mexico than what is happening on the border. Many cultural and educational exchange opportunities are available.”
