Applications Due Nov. 4 for HACU Washington, D.C. Internship Program

Applications are now being accepted for the Washington, D.C. summer internship program sponsored by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). The early application deadline is Nov. 4. The program is open to juniors, seniors, and graduate business students in all majors and from all ethnic backgrounds.

Since the program’s inception in 1992, HACU has placed over 5,000 students in internship positions in dozens of federal departments and agencies, as well as many Fortune 500 corporations. One application permits the student to apply for opportunities with all participating internship sponsors.

Successful candidates are offered paid summer positions, and HACU provides roundtrip transportation to Washington, D.C. from San Antonio. Housing assistance is available if desired by the student. Academic credit is usually possible with faculty permission.

“Students who meet the early application deadline of Nov. 4 will be assured of being considered by agencies that require background or other security checks,” said John Jennings, assistant dean for undergraduate professional development. “Most corporate sponsors have requested applications be submitted by the early deadline,” added Jennings.

Business students are in demand for projects in the fields of accounting, finance, information technology, management science, and marketing among others.

More information and the online application is available at HACU’s Web site: www.hnip.com. Students who need assistance in applying may contact John Jennings at 458-4327 or Shirley Rowe at 458-4596.
