Application Deadline Nears for Fall HACU Internships in Washington, D.C.

Numerous paid internships are available for UTSA business students who would like to spend the fall semester in Washington, D.C. The application deadline for the program, sponsored by the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU), is June 17, 2005. Selected students will start employment as interns on August 25 and complete their assignment on December 10, 2005.

The HACU program places students in leading federal agencies such as the Department of State, Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Commerce, among others. Many private corporations participate as well, including Goldman Sachs, Marriott International and Burlington Northern.

Business students are in demand for the fall, especially for those pursuing a degree in marketing, human resources, information systems, finance and accounting. Internships are open to diverse students of all ethnic backgrounds. Weekly pay, housing assistance, roundtrip transportation to Washington and program coordination are provided by HACU.

“Often our students can’t participate in programs like this, because they miss the application deadline,” said John Jennings, assistant dean for undergraduate professional development. “Now is the time to apply for acceptance into the Fall 2005 program. Most of these internships will also qualify for academic credit as an upper division elective,” he added.

More information on the program is available by logging on to the UTSA RowdyJobs (https://www.myinterfase.com/utsa/student/) and clicking on JOB ID 5796. The program is also described on the HACU website at www.hnip.net. For assistance in applying, contact John Jennings at 458-4327.
