Department of Economics
Position: The Department of Economics at The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2013, pending budget approval.Â The primary field for the position is microeconomics with the expectation that the person hired will be able to teach microeconomics at all levels, including the doctoral level, as well as mathematical economics at the graduate level.Â Â An additional field in health economics is desirable.Â Responsibilities include scholarly research and publication, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, active involvement in the College of Business Ph.D. program, the capacity to supervise Ph.D. dissertation research, and participation in university service.
- Required Qualifications: (1)Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Economics completed or expected to be completed by August 31, 2013. ABD candidates making suitable progress toward a Ph.D. will be considered, (2) potential to conduct or a record of high-quality scholarly research and other scholarly contributions that are consistent with appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, (3) potential to succeed in teaching and professional service activities, (4) strong verbal and written communication skills, and (5) the ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Preferred Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate the potential ability to perform scholarly research in microeconomics theory and its applications and the potential ability to teach both microeconomics and quantitative economics â€“ as well as health economics, if possible â€“ at all levels including the doctoral level.Â

The University:Â The College of Business at UTSA is one of the 40 largest business schools in the nation and is accredited by AACSB International. The college offers a variety of master’s programs as well as Ph.D. programs in six areas and ranks second in the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics in the United States. The Department:Â The Department of Economics, which has 13 full-time faculty members, offers undergraduate B.A. and B.B.A. degrees, a graduate M.A. degree, and an MBA degree with a concentration in business economics, in addition to participating in the College of Business Ph.D. programs.
