Department of Accounting
Position: The Department of Accounting at The University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Accounting beginning August 2014. Responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate, master’s, and/or Ph.D. courses; conducting scholarly research; and service. Applications from faculty interested in all areas of teaching and research in accounting are welcome to apply.
Required qualifications: (1) Ph.D. or DBA in accounting from an AACSB-accredited College of Business expected by August 18, 2014; (2) strong evidence of potential for scholarly research; and (3) evidence of effective teaching. ABD candidates making suitable progress toward the doctorate will be considered.
Preferred qualifications: accounting professional certification; teaching area in financial accounting; graduate teaching experience; a record of peer-reviewed publications; experience in working with doctoral students; and experience working in diverse cultural settings.
Department of Accounting: The department consists of 17 tenured and tenure-track faculty members and offers a BBA in accounting, a 150-hour program, a Master of Accountancy and a Ph.D. in business administration with a concentration in accounting. Programs offered by the department are separately accredited by AACSB.
College of Business: The College of Business at UTSA is one of the 40 largest business schools in the nation, is AACSB accredited, offers a variety of master’s programs as well as Ph.D. programs in six areas, and ranks second in the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics in the United States. UTSA is a comprehensive public metropolitan university serving approximately 32,000 students and is the third largest institution in the University of Texas System. It has the expressed goal of reaching a Tier I research status. The university has seen an extraordinary expansion of its graduate programs, particularly at the doctoral level.
