Accounting Hosted Scholarship Benefit Feb. 24 for Accounting Professor

April 17, 2006

The UTSA College of Business Department of Accounting sponsored the Russell F. Briner Scholarship Fund benefit on Friday, Feb. 24 at the UTSA Downtown Campus.

The benefit featured dinner and a variety show by New York City entertainer Shavonne Conroy (Briner's daughter) and pianist Jackie Bankston. Other activities included a silent auction and a champagne reception sponsored by Southwest Business Corporation.

Briner, professor of accounting, has taught at UTSA since 1988. During that time he has served as chair of the Department of Accounting, advisor to accounting interns and interim associate dean for the Downtown Campus. The Russell F. Briner Endowed Scholarship Fund was established through a lead gift from accounting alumnus Scott Chakales. Proceeds benefited student accounting scholarships in the College of Business.
