Business NewsUSAA Supports Actuarial Science Program at UTSA—November 12, 2004 The Department of Management Science and Statistics hosted a reception for more than 15 actuaries from USAA to recognize them for their support of the college's actuarial science program and students. USAA presented the program with a check for $500 to help fund a resource library for the students that will provide study materials for actuarial exams. Students must pass several rigorous exams to become certified as an associate actuary and eventually a fellow. Currently there are only 22,000 fellows in the United States. Beginning its third year, the college's actuarial science program has 12 declared majors and is actively recruiting. For more information about this career field, contact Joleen Beltrami at 458-6351.
