May 6, 2004

Eight graduate fellows in the Liu’s Family Foundation U.S.-China Business Education Initiative received business certificates from the University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business during an awards ceremony today.

The fellows have spent the semester studying American business in the classroom while taking nine hours of graduate coursework. They also toured businesses throughout Texas such as Altria, Sino Swearingen Aircraft and Tandy Brands.

In addition to their academic experiences the fellows participated in cultural enrichment activities. They attended the San Antonio Art Museum, the Stock Show and Rodeo, a Spurs game and the Alamo. They also learned about American culture by visiting public schools, hospitals and religious ceremonies.

Graduates were Xinnan Ji, Tongji University; Bin Li, Tongji University; Hui Li, Renmin University of China; Jiankun Li, Renmin University of China; Jing Li, Fudan University; Chang Liu, Renmin University of China; Daoyong Wang, Tongji University; and Fang Wang, Fudan University.

The Liu’s Family Foundation U.S.-China Business Education Initiative was established following a donation from Hong Kong businessman Richard Liu in 1998. This semester-long program offers MBA student exchange opportunities in August and January of each year. The first class of fellows began in 2000, and the program has supported the exchange of over 60 students and scholars since its inception.
