Business NewsCollege of Business Honors Scholarship Recipients—November 3, 2003
Fifty-two College of Business students were recognized during the college's annual Scholarship Banquet last week. The event honors College of Business scholarship recipients and recognizes the donors who provide the scholarship support. The scholarship reception allows donors and scholarship recipients to meet and develop mentoring relationships. Alex Castañeda, director of advancement, led the program which included remarks from Dean Bruce Bublitz. Scholarship recipients Robert Ayoub, Dinorah Sepulveda and Jason Wiederstein were featured speakers. A two-member faculty committee judges applications and selects recipients. For the 2003-2004 academic year, $63,500 was awarded. Their average grade point average was 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. There are 32 different active scholarships within the College of Business. Awards are made in the fall and are divided equally between the two semesters. Recipients must meet grade and hour requirements to receive the remainder of the award amounts. Students may earn more than one award. In addition to this general pool, individual departments also award scholarships.
