Steve Murdock to Speak at UTSA Nov. 14

Steve Murdock, regents professor and head of the Department of Rural
Sociology at Texas A&M University, will speak at UTSA next week.
Murdock, who was appointed the official state demographer of Texas by
Gov. Rick Perry, will present "The Population of Texas: Historical
Patterns and Future Trends Affecting Education," at 3:30 p.m. Nov.
14 in HSS 2.01.24.
His presentation will examine the implications of change in the rates
of population growth, the aging of the population, the increase in minority
populations and the change in household composition for the private and
public sectors in Texas in the 21st Century.
Prior to his lecture, a reception will be held for all College of Business
faculty from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Executive Conference Room.
Murdock holds a doctorate in demography and sociology from the University
of Kentucky and is the author of 10 books and more than 150 articles and
technical reports on the implications of current and future demographic
and socioeconomic change.
