Sanders and Weiher Named Department Chairs for Accounting and Economics

Elaine Sanders, associate professor of accounting, Accounting Department Chair Elaine Sanders, associate professor of accounting, has been named the new Chair for the Accounting Department. Sanders was previously serving as interim chair of the department. She holds a doctorate and master's degree in accounting from the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration from Eastern New Mexico University.

A member of the UTSA faculty since 1994, Sanders is active in the San Antonio chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants and advises the UTSA student chapter.

Kenneth Weiher, associate professor of economics, Economics Department Chair

Kenneth Weiher, associate professor of economics, was appointed the new Chair of the Economics Department. Weiher received a doctorate and master's degree in economics from Indiana University and a bachelor's degree in economics from the College of William and Mary.

He has taught in the college since 1975 and during that time has received numerous achievement awards including the University of Texas Chancellor's Council Outstanding Teaching Award in 1990.

Both chairs will serve three-year terms, and their appointments are effective June 1.
