College of Business Expands Partnerships with H-E-B

Group Photo with COB Dean and UTSA alumniCollege of Business Dean Bruce Bublitz met with eight representatives of H-E-B, seven of whom were UTSA alumni, to discuss expanded partnership opportunities.

"H-E-B has been an outstanding partner for UTSA," said Bublitz. "We look forward to building on a successful relationship of hiring and promoting students and graduates; collaborating on projects; and generously sharing gifts of time and financial resources."

H-E-B is a charter member of UTSA's Corporate Sponsor Program and renewed their sponsorship this year with a $15,000 gift. The Corporate Sponsor Program allows the college to move forward building programs of academic excellence and responding to community interest.

Ideas discussed included inviting H-E-B partners to guest lecture in classes, networking with department heads to expand career placement opportunities, showcasing H-E-B facilities to UTSA faculty members and working with H-E-B to recruit students from Mexico.

Winell Herron, group vice president of diversity and people development and graduate of the 2000 EMBA class, led the delegation from H-E-B. Other guests included Yvette Acosta, supervisor of design and development; Steve Bassel, director of enterprise architecture; Brooke Brownlow, vice president of benefits compensation; Lynnea Castillo, director of financial planning and analysis; Diana Grantland, senior human resource manager; Mike Graves, store director; and Wayne Terry, manager of store operations, recruiting.

Donde Ashmos, associate dean for graduate studies and research; Jim Eskin, director of advancement; and Wendy Frost, associate director of communications, represented the college.
