Jim Groff named College's Interim International Coordinator

August 28, 2000

Dr. Jim GroffJim Groff decided life without administrative responsibilities just really was not enough fun. Yes, he's moving into administration again, this time into the College's international team.

Although his official appointment is not effective until September 1, we don't let that stop us in the Business College. Groff has been reporting on and off the past few weeks to the coordinator's suite to keep tabs on the activity.

Jim Groff joined our accounting faculty in 1988 and in '93 traveled to Hungary, taking advantage of the international travel opportunities the U.S. Department of Education Title VI-B Grant gave us. There he met with business people and academicians to discuss business conditions in the emerging democracies of Eastern Europe. Since then he has become involved with our China Initiative.

Groff was named Associate Dean September of '94 and held that position until Dan Hollas was appointed this summer.

"Jim Groff has a history of solid commitment to the College, and we appreciate his willingness to step in and provide the leadership and continuity to our international programs," commented Dean Bublitz.

"Jim Gaertner (former Dean) and I had discussed my plan to yield the international portfolio and resume teaching a full course load at the end of this academic year, stated Bill Spruce, "I'm pleased Jim Groff has stepped in while we recruit this year for an Executive Director." (Executive Director of International Business & Latin American Studies)

"This college has established a great foundation for our international programs under Spruce's leadership. We appreciate his contributions in administration and look forward to his continuing influence in the classroom," commented Dean Bublitz.
