New Departments in Entrepreneurship and Cyber Security Created
December 1, 2011
The UTSA College of Business will ring in the New Year with one new academic department and a name change for an existing department.
Highlighting the college’s programming in cyber security, the Department of Information Systems and Technology Management will be renamed the Department of Information Systems and Cyber Security. All academic programs will remain the same. The department, chaired by Dr. Jan Clark, offers bachelor’s degrees in information systems and infrastructure assurance; a MBA concentration in information systems; a master’s of science degree in information technology with a concentration in infrastructure assurance; and a doctoral degree with an emphasis in information technology.
And a new department has been created in Entrepreneurship and Technology Management. The department will be led by Dr. William Flannery. Flannery, who has been a faculty member at UTSA since 1975, is the founding director of the college’s Management of Technology program.
“The department will include focuses in global entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and technology entrepreneurship,” said Flannery. “Our goal is to aim high, grow our programming in this area and become nationally ranked and respected by the entrepreneurial and technology management communities.”
The department will offer a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship; MBA concentrations in management of technology and project management; a master’s certificate in technology entrepreneurship; and a master’s of science degree in the management of technology.
The departmental changes will be operational January 17, 2012.
