Faculty Position in Statistics
Position: The Department of Management Science and Statistics in the College of Business at The University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for one tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in Statistics, beginning Fall 2008, pending budget approval. The department offers a B.S. degree in Statistics, a Minor in Applied Statistics, a B.B.A. in Actuarial Science, an M.S. in Statistics, and a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics. Responsibilities include teaching doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate courses as well as scholarly research, obtaining external funding, and university service. The expected teaching load is two courses per semester. The salary and supporting start-up package are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Required qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Statistics or related fields, completed or expected to be completed by August 31, 2008. ABD candidates making suitable progress toward a Ph.D. will be considered. Candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in scholarly research and strong communication skills.
The University: The College of Business at UTSA is one of the 40 largest business schools in the nation, is AACSB accredited, has more than 20 master’s programs, and has Ph.D. programs in six areas. The COB ranks second in the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics in the United States. UTSA is a comprehensive public metropolitan university serving approximately 28,000 students on two campuses in San Antonio. It has the express goal of reaching a Carnegie Classification of doctoral/research extensive (Carnegie I) by 2010.
