Mr. Tablada has more than 25 years of industry experience in marketing, consulting and senior management. His background spans a broad spectrum of responsibilities from being the data processing manager for General Motors in Mexico; to senior vice president and CIO for Banco de Comercio Group; and the strategic planning advisor to the President of Banco del Atlantico, both in Mexico City.
Subsequently, Mr. Tablada led the strategic planning practice for Arthur D. Little in Latin America. Immigrating to the United States in 1984, he opened his own business consulting practice as managing partner in San Antonio and did international marketing work until 1994. Subsequently, he worked for the Free Trade Alliance and Baptist Health System until 2002.
Since 2002, Tablada has been teaching marketing courses at UTSA - International Marketing (undergraduate and graduate levels); Marketing Capstone (Marketing Strategy); Principles of Marketing Honors; Principles of Marketing (regular and in Spanish).
Mr. Tablada had his first journal article published in the European Business Review in 2009. He was awarded the Faculty Appreciation Award by the Honors Alliance at UTSA in 2009; the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award for NTT Faculty at UTSA in 2007; Professor of the Year in electives (International Marketing) by the MBA Student Association at UTSA in 2003; and the Distinguished Sales and Marketing Award from the Sales and Marketing Executives of San Antonio in 2000.
He is a member of the XXIII Leadership San Antonio Class; past board member of Mission Road Ministries and the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He was included in the fifth edition of the Marquis Who’s Who in the World.
On the personal side, Mr. Tablada is married and has four children and eight grandchildren.
